hello!

My name is Ryan (Ry) Eskridge. I am a sophomore Chinese and Economics double major from San Antonio, Texas. I have an off-campus job as a barista at a local Starbucks, which I really enjoy. Starbucks is a wonderful company to work for because of their emphasis on helping the environment and supporting their community, including their partners (employees). On campus, I am a member of the Orientation Team (O-Team) and the swing dancing club called the "Swing Bums."

About my Blog

My experience at Trinity has really been shaped by my involvement in the Swing Bums. I started dancing for the very first time when I arrived at Trinity a year ago, and in that time, I have discovered that swing dancing is a passion of mine. That new-found passion and love has led me to not only devote most of my free time outside of class and work, but also to center this blog around the dance and how it connects to technology.

My Experience with Technology

I have fairly limited experience with technology, but I have completed another "digital literacy" course in high school entitled "Digital Interactive Media" or DIM. DIM class was extremely introductory and the main focus was on learning to collaborate in group projects that became essential in the rest of my high school career. My concerns for this class include being overwhelmed with more complicated technology than I am currently accustomed to, but I find reassurance in the fact that all learning happens outside of your comfort zone.
